When my partner purchased his Dagon Ruler of the Deep stroker from Fantasticocks he wasn’t anticipating how much he’d enjoy the design visually. He decided to purchase this model over their others because of practicality, not appearance. He selected his colors “Indra green” and “Gemini pink” thinking they’d compliment one another nicely, but have enough difference to stand out. Dagon is an aquatic design, resembling a sea creature. It reminds me of a dragonfish goby specifically. When the Dagon stroker arrived my partner was very impressed with the coloration, and quickly started appreciating the design more than he expected. It’s not that he thought it was a bad looking design or anything, he just figured he’d be more neutral to it, because how something looks doesn’t matter much if it functions well. And while that remains true it’s still nice to enjoy the aesthetic and design choices of sex toys, especially when it comes to fantasy models.

My partner has been struggling to find a silicone stroker that works for him for years now. He has plenty of TPE strokers he loves and uses regularly but finding a silicone stroker that doesn’t irritate him has been far more difficult. He purchased the Dagon Ruler of the Deep stroker from Fantasticocks specifically because of its wide tunnel. One of the big issues he’s had with other silicone strokers is they’re too tight, and because silicone doesn’t stretch as much as TPE that has been an issue for him. If you’ve read any of my other reviews for penis toys you will know my partner has a sensitive foreskin and frenulum and prefers his strokers to not be too tight, or have too much suction. My partner’s penis is also a bit above average in length and girth, so that has also impacted his ability to find strokers that meet all his requirements.
Specs
The Dagon stroker has a 1.6 inch wide opening, and the tunnel narrows down to just a little under 1.5 inches at the other end. The entire stroker is 7.75 inches long, and that entire length is usable because it’s an open-end design. The internal tunnel is a ribbed texture. The ribs are slightly different shapes and sizes, and the middle has a short area that’s a bump and swirl design. The Dagon comes in super-soft 00-20 silicone and your choice of two colors, with the option to add-on more for an additional price. The opening is the mouth of the creature, which has two barbel tendrils swooping back and curving beneath the eyes. The body of the stroker has a ridging scale (or perhaps gill) design down the sides, and an overall bumpy and raised texture everywhere else. These details add to the fantasy element of the toy, but don’t impede function or practicality. The Dagon stroker is easy to hold, and the fact the bottom is heavier than the top allows gravity to help with stroking.

Learning Curves
When it came down to using the Dagon Ruler of the Deep stroker my partner had a couple of learning curves. The first being he prefers to use the Dagon sideways, at least to start; so instead of the eyes facing up or down, they’re left or right. The reason for this is because it puts the most extreme areas of the texture on the sides of his dick rather than the top and bottom. There is also a small channel between the top and bottom set of ridges so they don’t make a full circle. This channel and sideways use helps him avoid rubbing his frenulum with the most intense texture so he doesn’t get overstimulated or irritated. The second thing that my partner had to figure out was the open end. To solve this he rolls up a small washcloth and sticks it into the end of the Dagon. The washcloth solves three issues for him, which I will explain in more detail but the issues were: sound, air-flow, and suction.
Another very important thing that made this silicone stroker work for him is the use of a hybrid lubricant. Water-based lubricant dried out too quickly, and even when reactivated with water it had too much of a tacky feeling for him.
The hybrid lubricant he uses has such a small amount of silicone they don’t even call it a “hybrid-lubricant” but it does have dimethicone in the ingredients. It’s very important that you spot test all hybrid-lubes on a section of your silicone toy that won’t be used (such as the outside, or base) to see if there’s any interaction. It will become gummy, or sticky, if it’s a bad interaction. Most hybrid lubricants contain a small enough amount of silicone to not interact with silicone sex toys though. Ample lubricant, no matter what kind you choose to use (don’t use pure silicone lubricant with silicone toys!) is absolutely necessary to make strokers feel their best, and to keep you from getting irritated and injured.

Texture and Use
Coming from using TPE almost exclusively I was most interested in seeing how the internal texture felt to him and what the differences between it and silicone were for him. He said the ribbing is very noticeable and stimulating but not painful. He’s had other silicone strokers where the ribbing felt very stiff and not rounded off so the texture felt grating and painful. The ribbing inside the Dagon is smoother (rounded off) and because the individual ribs vary in height and width it keeps the texture stimulating but comfortable. The ribbing pushes his foreskin around, tugging up and pushing down since the silicone does have less give. For him this is an aspect he really enjoys. One of the biggest ways that TPE and silicone vary is the texture is more prominent with silicone, because it’s not just mushed practically flat the way it can be with TPE when put under pressure. When it comes to texture with TPE strokers he can tell if the texture is ribbed or orb-like, but he can’t feel much in the way of specifics or intricate details, but with silicone it’s easier to appreciate finer details.
While he starts out using Dagon stroker sideways once he’s more warmed up he does flip it the “correct” way to change the feeling. He enjoys switching between both positions during his sessions with it because it changes the sensation. If he gets too close to the edge, or starts to feel over stimulated he can simply turn the Dagon sideways while he comes back down.

Width
The width of the Dagon stroker’s tunnel is perfect for him. The opening (the mouth) is slightly wider than the end, but there are no extra tight spots or pockets to contend with. The swirl and ripple design in the middle of the tunnel is a couple of millimeters taller than the entrance ribbing, but it doesn’t become uncomfortably tight or narrow. The ribbing in the last-third of the tunnel is slightly thicker and in a more square shape, giving it a slightly more narrow chamber. The super-soft silicone also does stretch and give, just not to the degree of TPE strokers.
Non-Erect Use and Benefits
Another area the silicone material is a benefit over TPE is the fact it’s easier to stimulate a flaccid, or semi-erect, penis (or your preferred term). If you’re not erect it can be very difficult to put your penis (or your preferred term) into a TPE toy, and get enough stimulation from it to get an erection, or enough stimulation to be pleasurable even if erection isn’t your goal. When my partner tries to stimulate his flaccid, or semi-erect penis with TPE he says it’s like pushing into marshmallow. However, with the Dagon stroker he can put his flaccid penis inside easily because the silicone doesn’t just collapse on itself. The material is soft enough to not be uncomfortable but still firm enough to allow him to lightly stroke, grazing himself with the chamber’s texture, until he’s more erect. He likes the fact that no matter what the state of his dick is, flaccid, semi-erect, or fully erect, the Dagon stroker is easy and pleasurable to use.

Open-End Adjustments
Now, let’s discuss the open-ended design and the washcloth thing. My partner doesn’t like for his sex toys to make a lot of noise; it pulls him out of the experience. The ribbing of the Dagon stroker creates ample area for small air bubbles that pop and the up-and-down of stroking against the texture creates a sound, simple as that. It’s not a super loud noise that everyone in your house will hear every time you’re using it, but if you’re sensitive to noise like my partner you will notice it. The open-end design also means no suction and plenty of air flow. This is preferable for some people. My partner is very precise about the suction he prefers, because he doesn’t like things super tight, but he said no suction meant it just felt less form-fitting. Now, there are a couple of companies that I know of making plugs for silicone strokers, Neotori and Synthetic Sensations but my partner didn’t want to go that route because he knew zero airflow would make it too tight. The last issue with the open-end design for him is all the air means lube drying out easily. His washcloth trick may look funny in use, but it’s the perfect solution for him.
Using the Dagon stroker with the washcloth makes the toy much quieter, even near silent when positioned correctly. It helps create a small amount of suction to provide a more cone-shape effect around the head of his dick for optimal stimulation, while still allowing some airflow in so it doesn’t create a vacuum effect. And it obviously keeps the lube from drying out since it’s a more closed-in environment.

Lube Techniques
When using the Dagon stroker my partner wants to stress the importance of making sure you spread your lube around adequately and make sure you use enough. If you’re coming to silicone strokers from TPE strokers you will be more used to how easily lubricant spreads itself around TPE toys. With the Dagon stroker he advises you put your lubricant in both openings, entrance and exit, and spread it around. He also keeps a small spray bottle of plain water handy to help reactivate his lubricant if needed (no matter what toy he’s using). Despite the toy’s width, lube leaking out and being messy hasn’t been a problem for him. This comes from a mixture of the lube collecting in the ribbing texture, and the fact there’s not enough suction to create a tight environment that forces the lube out.

Cleaning
The Dagon stroker is made entirely out of body-safe silicone so it can also be easily cleaned and sanitized, which is also a step above TPE. There’s also no risk of mold and mildew growing from not being thoroughly dried. My partner is very wary of mold and mildew on his TPE strokers and it’s always a big concern for him, so he loves the peace of mind silicone gives him.

When my partner bought his Dagon stroker from Fantasticocks we were both concerned it would end up being a waste of money, like other silicone strokers he’s bought in the past. Finally though, he’s found a winner. He has declared over and over how much he loves it, both visually and for use, and he’s hoping to be able to expand his collection with more wide-tunnel silicone strokers.
