The Mothman dildo was the first product I came across from Squidly Co. and initially I just found it funny, because Mothman is “Funny Internet Culture” for me, but as the days passed I couldn’t get it out of my head. The shape really stuck out to me and I kept thinking about what it would be like in use. So when last year’s Black Friday sales rolled around I couldn’t help but snatch up my own sparkly, beautiful Mothman.
Mothman was designed by Venus at Wormhole Emporium, and is poured and sold by Squidly Co. I purchased the 8 inch Mothman, but it also comes in 6, 8, and 10 inch varieties, you can see size specs for each here. The Mothman dildo is both vaginal and anal-safe because of its base, but this review will just be about vaginal use. My Mothman is “Opal gemstone” coloration and it’s beautiful; while the stock photos are good, nothing compares to having it in hand and seeing the complexity up close. My Mothman is in 00-50 density silicone (medium) but Squidly Co. also offers soft 00-30, firm shore A20, and extra firm shore A30 for silicone density choices.
First Impressions
Mothman was truly an unexpected shock for me, in so many ways. The very first time I used the Mothman dildo I reached orgasm super fast. It happened so quickly that I thought it had to be a fluke, and I must just have been more built up than I even realized. Well, this just kept happening basically every time I used the Mothman. I would insert it vaginally, and soon after I began thrusting with it I would have the urge to orgasm. Now, I don’t know if I’ve talked about it enough here, but reaching quick orgasms isn’t really a thing for me, and reaching quick orgasms from an insertable sex toy is even less likely.
The Mothman was designed in a way that makes it feel like it was created with my needs in mind, and I didn’t know I needed it. Upon just looking at the Mothman dildo visually I was really intrigued by it, and curious what it would be like to use; I knew I was likely to enjoy the forward curve, but I didn’t know the overall design would work so well for my body.
Using the Mothman
The forward curve is meant to cater to G-spot stimulation, which it does, but the curve and the head of the Mothman also deliver mind-melting A-spot and cervical stimulation for me. The curve allows the forward-facing head, with its subtle nose, to curve into my anterior fornix (A-spot) while still rolling against my cervix with every thrust.
When I am using longer thrusts the head swoops down on my entire urethral sponge, tugging and pulling at it deliciously, stimulating the internal sections of my clit just as well as someone’s fingers could. And all of this before I plunge back up into my cervix and A-spot. When my muscles are clenched around the head and shaft of the Mothman the bulbous head rolls over my every ridge perfectly, and is big enough to stay inside even with vigorous thrusting.
The widening shaft on the Mothman also checks off the box of my desire and need for “more”. When I am with a partner, and even when I am solo, I like to feel stretched out. I am constantly asking for more fingers. More stretch. The bigger sex toys. The shaft widens out as it goes down so while my vaginal muscles are clamped around the head and curve of the Mothman the bottom of the shaft is repeatedly stretching my entrance over and over with each thrust.
When I say this dildo makes me feel like I am stimulating everything at once, I mean it. I normally focus on intense cervix bashing, and fornix stimulation, or I occasionally target my G-spot with an intense, unyielding toy, but with the Mothman dildo I know as soon as I put it in it’s going to press into, and stroke every hot spot all at once.
Internal Clit Stim
I don’t currently own another dildo that targets the internal portion of my clit as well as the Mothman does. Normally this is a job for a strong internal vibrator, or a rumbly external vibrator that penetrates deeply, but as good as vibrations feel I also crave sensations that are closer to what fingers or dicks provide.
Fingering is one of my all-time favorite forms of sex, and it’s mostly because of how well it stimulates my internal clit. External clit stimulation is definitely important and a highlight of my life and everything, but I can’t overstate how fucking good it feels to have my entire clit stimulated at once. The Mothman dildo targets the internal portions, including the vestibular bulbs around my entrance, while I can easily use an external vibrator on my exposed clit to hit every angle at once.
The Mothman and my Urethra
As I’ve mentioned before, I have a sensitive urethra and certain sex toys can irritate it. Due to the shape of my anatomy it gets rubbed/rolled over my pubic bone with most insertable sex toys, and while that still happens with the Mothman dildo the design works so well for me this actually ends up feeling good. While my urethra is sensitive, the sensitivity can go either way and end up feeling good, or bad. I actually really enjoy urethra stimulation but it has to be exactly the right kind. The ridged design on the lower end of the shaft is smooth, and wider curves rather than thin ridges, so they stimulate my urethra with good sensations rather than irritating it with bad sensations. This of course will vary person-to-person, but it’s one of the first dildos I’ve owned that does this for me.
The Mothman’s Texture
I have to dedicate an entire section to the texture of this dildo because that’s how important it is to me. When you look at this dildo you can see that it’s very detailed with plenty of nooks, valleys, and crevices. If you’re cautious about things being too textured you may look at this dildo and think that it’s going to be too intense. However, all of the ridges and texturing on the Mothman are rounded and very smooth. It does not contain sharp ridges or any texturing that feels uncomfortable or grating to me. The way the texture works with the general shape of this dildo is a big component of what makes it so perfect for me and brings me to ultra fast orgasms. If the Mothman had this same shape, but was completely smooth it wouldn’t work near as well for me. The texture never gets too intense, no matter what speed I’m thrusting at. If you’ve been wanting to broaden your horizons and try out toys that are more textured than just veins and bunched up skin I feel like the Mothman would be an excellent first step to take, without just leaping into the void of intense textures.
I do suggest using extra lubricant if you’re at all like me and struggle with vaginal wetness, because silicone can catch, and cause friction irritation on dry skin. The silicone itself is very smooth and glides easily with wetness though; it’s not a sticky, matte, or powdery feeling silicone.
Silicone Firmness
The curve of the Mothman’s shaft is more flexible than the thicker parts of the dildo so when I am thrusting it as deep as it can go, this section does bend. I’ve uploaded a video to Bluesky or Instagram to show what I mean. This bending benefits how the Mothman stimulates my cervix and A-spot as it rolls over this area and pushes the head into my A-spot more firmly, but I am a heavy clencher, especially when I orgasm. I also suffer from chronic pain and sometimes I do not have the arm strength to push dildos past my clenching vaginal muscles to pound my cervix like I want when I orgasm, and the bend doesn’t help this. If the Mothman dildo isn’t buried quite deep enough when my orgasm starts to roll through me I can’t always thrust it as deep as I need to because the curve ends up bending and not holding up against my muscles. This leads to a slightly weaker orgasm.
This is something that would have most likely been solved by getting a firmer silicone density, but I didn’t know the bend was going to do that, so I am passing the knowledge on to you. It’s not a deal breaker for me, and it’s something I have mainly learned to work around, but if you would prefer that the dildo not bend as much at this curve you should get a firmer density than the 00-50.
Final Thoughts
There are several sex toys that I haven’t touched since reviewing them but I can say with complete confidence that the Mothman dildo will continue to get used by me, on the regular. I have learned how to slow down how quick I orgasm with this dildo so I can luxuriate in all the sensations it provides, but I only like to deny and edge myself for so long before I give in to its texture and intensity. I never know for certain what sex toys will get added to my consistent rotation when I buy them, but the Mothman has definitely claimed one of those spots.
Cleaning
Use warm water and mild soap to scrub down your Mothman dildo good, taking care to get lube and body fluids out of all the crevices. I use an ultra soft toothbrush to make sure I get everything, but you can use a soft cloth, or just your fingers. Rinse everything off well, and allow to air dry or dry with a lint-free cloth. If you need to sterilize your dildo you can use the 10% bleach method, or the boiling method. Make sure the dildo is completely dry before storing away.
