Tenga 3D Spiral Review

The Tenga 3D Spiral is my partner’s third stroker from the 3D line. Tenga is one of his favorite makers of TPE sex toys, and the 3D line has given him some of his favorite strokers of all time. He loves their discretion, ease of use, and soft, stretchy material.

Appearance wise, my partner loves how the 3D Spiral looks; he says it feels very sci-fi. One of the benefits to the 3D Tenga line is their discretion, because if someone is unfamiliar with strokers they likely won’t automatically guess what they’re looking at. They also are good for folks who don’t want a stroker that’s fashioned after a body part; this makes them feel more gender neutral for some folks, too.

Tenga 3D Spiral Specs and What’s Included

The Tenga 3D Spiral stands 4.57 inches tall, and has a 1.89 inches diameter, when unstretched. Tenga’s website lists the insertion length as 7.87 inches and insertion width as 1.96 inches for use.

The Tenga 3D Spiral is made of TPE, which is an antibacterial elastomer, according to their product information.

The Tenga 3D Spiral also comes with a in ABS plastic drying stand/case. A sample of Tenga Hole Lotion also comes with the product. You will find it on the bottom of the case, under the plastic cap. This lubricant is NOT vaginal safe.

Tenga 3D Spiral In Use

To use the 3D Spiral you turn it inside out, putting the texture on the inside. This is how the entire 3D line works.

“The most intense TPE toy I’ve ever experienced”- is how my partner describes the 3D Spiral. Not only does he feel the columns that make the spiral shape, but the individual “steps” that go across the stroker horizontally. The texture can be felt intensely on his entire coronal ridge, and the area right below his head, when his foreskin is retracted tightly. It’s an extremely intense experience for him, and it’s actually overstimulating. He enjoys certain types of overstimulation, but they have to be the sort that build him up to an orgasm. With the Tenga 3D Spiral it doesn’t feel like it’s building him up to an orgasm at all, just causing the sort of overstimulation that leads to sensitivity.

One of the big reasons my partner is so fond of the other 3D Tenga’s he has is because they allow him to masturbate and edge for as long as he wants, without overstimulation or irritation. The Tenga 3D Spiral doesn’t cause irritation in the sense that a stroker that’s too tight will cause, it just causes overstimulation for him. After using it for just a short time he has to stop because it starts to make his legs jump and twitch. This happens because his dick becomes numb to any pleasurable sensations and he just starts perceiving overstimulation sensations.

For those who are uncircumcised he says think back to when your glans were still getting used to being exposed, or directly stimulated. That uncomfortable sensitivity is what the 3D Spiral mimics for him.

Tenga 3D Spiral’s Tunnel and Texture

When you invert the Tenga 3D Spiral you will notice that it really condenses the entire texture. The Spiral has two layers to the texture, in a sense: columns, and steps. The columns give the spiral shape, while the individual “steps” give texture horizontally. My partner said that the texture feels like a zipper going down his dick, especially on the head. That’s not a particularly pleasant sounding experience, but he doesn’t mean it’s as painful as an actual zipper. The individual steps can just be felt very acutely by him, so it feels like something zipping open and closed. When he pushes into the stroker the texture opens distinctly, and when he pulls out he can feel it close up very well, too.

The 3D Spiral is still just as soft and stretchy as the other 3D Tenga’s he owns, but the texture is too extreme for him. The tunnel is tighter when inverted, because the columns are thicker than his Polygon or Zen 3D models, but the stroker doesn’t feel too tight, even for him. If you’re unaware, my partner needs his strokers to feel really roomy, and stretch amply for them to be comfortable for him.

Who the Tenga 3D Spiral May Will be Good For

If you’re someone who has tried out other TPE strokers and felt they were too subtle for you, then the 3D Spiral may be exactly what you’re looking for. If you like a lot of intense stimulation, but prefer the soft squishiness of TPE the 3D Spiral may work well for you. If you’ve tried some of the other 3D models and you liked aspects about them but felt that the textures were too subtle, the 3D Spiral may be worth giving a try. I still can’t tell you how the entire line compares, but between the Polygon, the Zen, and the Spiral, the Spiral is the most intense.

If you have a lack of sensitivity and you find you can’t perceive a lot of textures, the 3D Spiral may be worth a shot as far as TPE goes, but silicone strokers may be more of what you’re looking for.

Lube

The Tenga 3D Spiral holds lube well, just like other models from the 3D line. Their inverted design means that the lube stays in well and you don’t have to worry about it leaking out. The closed-end design also means you don’t have to worry about reapplying often because the air isn’t making it dry out fast.

If you keep a spray bottle of clean water handy you can spray inside the stroker to reactivate your lubricant.

Only use water-based lubricant with TPE. My partner does use a hybrid lubricant with all of his TPE strokers, but spot test beforehand if you want to try this.

Cleaning, Drying, and Storage

The Tenga 3D Spiral model does take more time to clean simply because of all the little nooks that can hold lube and body fluids, but it’s not a difficult process. Once the stroker is turned right side out you can easily scrub all of the texture with a mild soap and water. Drying all TPE toys is very essential to their longevity because they can mold easily, since the material is porous. My partner likes to use the drying rods (and more companies are starting to include them), but you can also use a soft, lint free cloth, or paper towel. Ensure you dry both the outside and inside before storage. While the storage case for the 3D models also says it’s a drying stand I do suggest drying the stroker yourself and not relying on this because there’s just not enough air flow for the strokers to fully dry. The circle at the top of the stand keeps this area from fully drying, too.

Once the stroker is fully dry you can store it with the plastic cover on top to keep it clean from lint, dust, and hair.
