When VVD, which stands for Viva Desire, reached out to me about reviewing their Rider Desire, it was perfect timing. For those who don’t know, I deal with chronic pain and lately that’s been spreading to my hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders, which can make masturbating with sex toys that I have to hold, or thrust on my own, difficult at times. Pleasure and masturbation are always going to be an important aspect to my life so I started contemplating what sex toys could help me accommodate this when needed.
The Rider Desire is a sex saddle made of silicone and ABS plastic that comes with three insertable attachments (also made of silicone and ABS plastic), and has a built-in clit (of your preferred term) stimulator. I was excited about this clit tapper, as it’s called, because I have enjoyed this technology in other sex toys. The three attachments also all have a completely different function: one vibrating, one tapping, and one thrusting. So between the potential to be a pleasure accessibility aid for me, and all the different options I was really looking forward to testing and using the Rider Desire.
The Rider Desire is a lightweight design, at just 4.24 pounds, and is small enough to be moved around and used just about anywhere you want. You can use it on a bed, a floor, a chair, a narrow table, or just about any other piece of furniture your heart desires. It has two rubber strips to keep it from sliding around so you don’t risk an awkward injury to yourself, or damage to the saddle. I mainly use my Rider Desire on my bed and I only experience minimal sliding when I am doing a lot of movement.

Features and Specs
The Rider Desire has a heating function, a remote control as well as built-in controls, charges for wireless use, functions that can be used independently or together, and it is built like a rocking chair so you can grind and hump in whatever way feels best for you.
It supports up to roughly 330 pounds, or 150 kg (according to the manual, the website says 125kg). Considering most people are going to be supporting some of their own body weight on their legs I would imagine there’s flexibility here, too.

Controls
While the manual and website both do a great job at explaining the controls for the Rider Desire there’s a couple things I want to touch on.
The on/off button is only on the Rider Desire saddle itself, it’s the round button. Also, you can turn one of the functions off whenever you want by holding down the corresponding button on the saddle or remote.
The remote’s buttons are opposite from the saddles: the top button controls the attachments and the bottom the clit tapper. The remote can connect to the Rider Desire from a good distance, too. I was able to control my Rider Desire across my house, in a different room entirely.
A note about the heating feature: First you must have an attachment in, as they’re what heat up, and in the instruction booklet it says “double click the upper button or use the remote control’s vibrating icon”, if you want to turn on the heat function from the saddle itself you need to actually double click the bottom button, and if you want to do it from the remote you need to double click the attachment button (top button). The light on the bottom of the saddle will turn yellow when the feature is on. It takes several minutes for the attachments to fully heat up, and when they do the light will turn back to white. You can use the heat function and the attachment’s function at the same time.

Who I think the Rider Desire Could be Good for
The Rider Desire can be used solo, or with a partner, and the uses can be as kinky or non-kinky as you like. Since the Rider Desire can be controlled with a remote it can easily be used for D/s games. If you prefer to be in control you could instead make someone watch as you ride your way to ecstasy while they’re not allowed
to touch themselves. Maybe you really like being on top during sex, or you want to strengthen your muscles so you can be on top longer, the Rider Desire could be a fun way to help strengthen them and practice. If you’re someone who primarily seeks stimulation by humping and grinding it would likely be an excellent fit for you.
If you have been wanting to get a sex saddle but aren’t sure how you will feel about one so the cost has deterred you, the Rider Desire is a cheaper option to experiment with (plus I have a discount code for you at the end).
VVD is a company that prides itself on imagination and exploration, so if you’re someone who already owns a lot of sex toys and you’re looking for something new to try, the Rider Desire could be that thing.

My Experience with Rider Desire’s Clit Tapper
The clit tapping feature can be used independently from the attachments so I always warm up and get aroused with it before I move on to any attachments. If you have never tried out this type of tapping stimulation it feels similar to using the bathtub faucet, or shower head for masturbation. It also has a similarity to air pressure toys in my opinion, but with more direct contact.
The clit tapper on the Rider Desire is pretty strong and rumbly. It’s just as strong as my Satisfyer Pro 2 (gen 3) liquid head on the sixth setting. I like alternating between grinding on the clit tapper, as the area is textured, and staying still for more targeted stimulation.
The clit tapper has 13 settings, and sadly only one of them is a steady speed. There is a second setting that is almost like a steady speed, but it goes up-and-down subtly. I do wish that VVD had chosen to make five or six of the settings steady speeds of escalating power rather than patterns, because after a while I’m left with nowhere to go, power wise.

The Rider Desire Attachments
The attachments for the Rider Desire are attached with magnet docking, and it’s a strong hold. The magnets are strong enough you could probably use it anally if you wanted to without risking the attachments coming off, but I can’t speak for how well it works because I didn’t test the Rider Desire anally. All of the attachments are on the firmer side, as the silicone is a thin layer.
I am really impressed with the fact that VVD includes three insertable attachments with the Rider Desire that all function differently, and all have their own variety of settings. The first thing I wondered was if the tapping and thrusting attachment could stay functioning inside me, or if they’d stall like some other motored insertables I’ve tried in the past. To my surprise, neither of the attachments stalled while inside me.
The tapping attachment has a slight forward tilt and a ridged design. The head is where the tapping mechanism is and it has a tapping plate on both the front and the back. It has 13 settings to choose from, 2 of which are steady speeds. The tapping attachment is too long to reach my g-spot and too short to reach my a-spot. I am impressed that it can stay functioning while inside me, but I don’t get any use out of it because no matter how I adjust my body I cannot get it to stimulate any of my hot spots. If it lined up with my body I think I would really enjoy it since I love fingering so much, but unfortunately it just didn’t work out. It’s not a bad attachment, it just doesn’t work with my anatomy.

The thrusting attachment is straight and has a subtle criss-cross type texture over it. I don’t get much from the texture as it’s pretty subtle, but at least you don’t have to worry about it being too rough even at higher speeds. It has 6 settings, 3 of which are steady speeds. I am impressed with how fast the thrusting can get, and its ability to power through my clenching without issue. It feels good to raise my body off of the Rider Desire some and let the thrusting attachment work at my vaginal entrance and first inch or so, but I can’t stay in this position long unfortunately. I do wish the thrusting attachment was either thicker, or an inch or two longer because at its current size it can feel a bit aimless. Yes the motor works well but what good is a powerful motor if I can’t tap my cervix or feel at least a little stretched. Once again though, it’s just about personal preference.

The vibrating attachment has the same ridges as the tapping attachment and forward tilt, along with a somewhat pronounced head. The vibrating attachment features 7 settings, 3 of which are steady. This attachment is my favorite out of the three. It has a pretty good amount of power, with a mix of rumbly and buzzy. It’s not pelvic-shaking-powerful but it’s strong enough that I stay aware of it while grinding on the Rider Desire and stimulating my clit. The vibrating attachment is as strong as many of my internal vibrators in the $50-70 range when it’s on the third steady setting.

Putting it All Together
When I am using the vibrating attachment and the clit tapper on the steady speed is when the Rider Desire works best for me. While the clit tapper can’t be increased in power the way I would like having the vibrating attachment added into the mix makes a difference. Between the two features, along with some grinding, enough of my clit gets stimulated externally and internally for me to reach orgasm most of the time. There are days though where my body has a need for more power, or more intense internal stimulation (cervix and fornix stim) that the Rider Desire isn’t enough to bring me to orgasm, but that doesn’t mean it’s not an enjoyable start.
The gap between the attachment and the clit tapper doesn’t line up perfectly with my body depending on how I’m positioned so to combat this I just grind a lot of the time. This is the problem with most dual-stimulation sex toys though, and not unique to the Rider Desire.

The Rider Desire and My Pain
While the Rider Desire does obviously give my hands and arms a break like I was hoping for, it isn’t good for my pain overall. The Rider Desire isn’t going to make it to my “most used” sex toys because it makes my pelvic, leg, and hip pain flare badly. Every time I used the Rider Desire my pain was flared for two to three days after. It’s not because there’s anything wrong with the Rider Desire itself, I actually really love the concept, my body just can’t handle it.
Noise Level
While the Rider Desire is not silent it’s quieter than I expected from a sex saddle. The thrusting and tapping attachments are the loudest and do have a mechanical sound while in use. However, the attachments can’t be heard as clearly when they’re inside you, and if you turn on some music or a movie while you’re using it you likely won’t be heard, if you’re in a room with the door closed.
Charging
The Rider Desire is charged via a port on the underside using a USB-C cable. Simply lift the small silicone flap and plug the cord into the port. The Rider Desire saddle itself is the only thing that needs charged, since it’s what powers the dildo attachments. You do not need to individually charge the attachments. The Rider Desire remote is battery operated with a CR2032 coin cell battery.
It takes the Rider Desire saddle three hours to fully charge if the battery is completely dead. Run time is listed as 1.15 hours at top speed. I have used the Rider Desire for an hour and forty-five minutes without it dying on me so it’s definitely got a decent battery.

Cleaning and Drying
The Rider Desire is splashproof so it can be cleaned at the sink but do not submerge the saddle in water. The attachments are easy to clean as they can be cleaned under running water with mild soap. You can also use sex toy cleaner on the saddle if you don’t want to have to clean it at the sink.
When lube and body fluids leak around the attachments and into the dock of my Rider Desire I use a cloth and cotton swabs to clean it out. You do have to keep the pins on the attachments and connector pins in the dock clean in order for them to work.
Make sure you dry the metal pins on the attachments and the connector pins in the dock after washing.
